(KNOX) -The Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission heard an update on the Grand Valley Pedestrian Study.
Connor Cox of the firm Bolton and Menk told the commission that they are being proactive in an area of Grand Forks that is not built up at this time.
“The study area is not developed yet, but it is likely to quickly develop. And so I think that really the impetus for this study is to be proactive,” Cox told the Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission.
“So many of you are probably familiar with this area. This is in the southwest part of the city,” Cox said. “Generally speaking the north extent is 47th Avenue. The west extent is Columbia Road. The south extent is Merrifield Road. Then east extent is Belmont.”
The study will look at the existing transportation network and make recommendations on anticipated needs of the area.
A final report on the study is scheduled to be presented in December of this year.
The next regular meeting of the Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission is 5:30 P.M. September 4 in City Hall Council Chambers, 255 N 4th St, Grand Forks.
