GF’s Kraus-Parr among applicants for ND Supreme Court

Seven people have applied for an opening on the North Dakota Supreme Court, including Grand Forks attorney Kiara Kraus-Parr.

Other applicants are South Central District Judge Doug Bahr, Northwest District Judge Daniel El-Dweek, North Central District Judge Stacy Louser, Fargo attorneys Jake Rodenbiker and Angela Elsperger Lord, and attorney David Hagler of Bismarck.  

The Judicial Nominating Committee will screen the applicants and send a list of finalists to Gov. Doug Burgum. He can fill the vacancy from the list of nominees, return the list to the committee, or call a special election to fill the opening for the remainder of the term.  

Justice Gerald Vandewalle is retiring at the end of January. He has been on the court for 44 years.
