The cost of a scoping study for an intercity bridge connecting Grand Forks and East Grand Forks will be shared by four governmental entities.
The Grand Forks County Commission Tuesday voted to chip in 37,793 dollars – or one-fourth of the cost of the 151,000 report. Grand Forks and East grand Forks have the same amount on the table.
Grand Forks Administrator Todd Feland told the commission that hiring of SRF Consultants is the next step and the study could help attract planning dollars.
The city of Grand Forks was looking to split the cost four ways between the two cities – and Grand Forks and Polk Counties.
Polk County has only agreed to contribute $20,000 toward the cost. A staff report before the East Grand Forks council last week suggested the city pick up the shortfall created by Polk County. The council has not acted on that recommendation.
