Dead cattle found floating in the Missouri River in central North Dakota came from a herd owned by a rancher near Hensler. The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association said Tuesday in a release that Clark Price estimates about 25 of his cattle walked onto the river ice and fell through. The number of lost cattle will be updated in the next few days as the herd is brought in and counted. The statement says several groups are working with Price to “develop a response plan.”Hensler is in Oliver County, about 40 miles north of Bismarck. The cattle were first seen in the river last Wednesday and were spotted in the Bismarck area on Monday.
