EGF targets Reid Huttunen as new city administrator

East Grand Forks has clarified the selection process for a new city administrator.

After indicating a final decision between two internal candidates would come at a special meeting next Tuesday the city has offered the position to current Park & Rec superintendent Reid Huttunen.

The decision was made last night (Wednesday) following interviews with the two finalists:  Huttunen and Interim Administrator/City Clerk Megan Nelson.

Over 20 people applied for the job.  The council narrowed the selection to four finalists earlier this summer only to see two of those candidates drop out.

After visiting with the city’s search firm it was determined that the job offer was made during a public portion of the meeting and could be released.  Pending completion of negotiations over the terms of employment the selection will be formally approved by the council next week.

Huttunen was hired by the city in 2016.  Prior to joint East Grand Forks Huttunen was employed by Special Olympics North Dakota as the Director of Development and Director of Sports.  He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota – Crookston.

East Grand Forks was looking to fill the position vacated by David Murphy who left earlier this year for a similar job in St. Joseph (MN).
