GFAFB Mission Growth Likely in 2024

The future of the Grand Forks Air Force Base looks bright.  That was message 319th Commander Col. David Castor delivered to members of the Grand Forks School Board this week.

Col. Castor says it’s a different take from a decade ago when things were a little more unsettled.  “We are looking forward to some announcements coming in the near future for a new mission.  It’s kind of been promised for awhile.  It’s looking very certain there will some announcements in the next couple of months.”

Col. Castor says while new GFAFB missions are likely – it may not translate into a huge increase in personnel.  “The reality is the numbers will probably be about the same when you count everybody.”

The Twining School on the GFAFB has a student enrollment of 282.  Another 52 students attend class at Central High School with a single student hitting the books at Community.
