GRAND FORKS, ND (Ryan Cunningham)–This large creature decided to pop out of the coulee south of Grand Forks Thursday.
Ryan Cunningham spotted this snapping turtle on the shoulder of Belmont Road just north of the KNOX Studios.
Estimates are the turtle could be 70-90 years old, and about the same size range of 70-90 pounds.
The public is encouraged to help turtles cross roads at times, if they can, but the warning is that this size of turtle is capable of doing a severe amount of damage to people that attempt to help it.
In this case, law enforcement was called, and the Grand Forks Sheriffs Office was contacted, and they verified the turtle was moved.
