Minnesota House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler says he plans to be on the ballot in 2022 – for a different role.
Winkler announced today (Tue) he is running for Hennepin County Attorney.
Current Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is not seeking re-election.
As Winkler put it: “We need progressive leadership that can bring people together around a common vision for public safety, police accountability, and criminal justice reform.”
Winkler, of Golden Valkey, has served seven non-consecutive terms in the House and has been majority leader since 2019.
He sponsored the 2021 bill passed by the House to legalize recreational marijuana.
