Demolition of the old Memorial Stadium in Grand Forks is officially underway. The 1927 structure is being razed to make way for a new $25 million building. The first floor will house UND Athletics and the remaining four floors market rent apartments.
Last night (Monday) the city council gave final approval to the plat for the Memorial Stadium Resubdivision. In February the council approved a tax incentive plan to help with the financing of construction.
The proposed plan calls for new construction to start this spring with an August completion date.
The stadium held its first actual football game in 1928.
