The Red River in Grand Forks / East Grand Forks has been slowly falling after hitting 45.82 feet early Wednesday – nearly 18 feet over flood stage.
As the water moves north Walsh County officials are bracing for additional flooding on top of the overland flooding caused by heavy rains last weekend.
Emergency Manager Brent Nelson says they’re still working to identify all the damage. “We’ve got culverts blown out and two bridges damaged…one totally destroyed. The damage we have right now is off the Forest River and Park River tributaries plus a lot of overland flooding.”
Once the waters recede Nelson says they’ll compile more precise damage reports in preparation for a possible presidential disaster declaration.
