Construction is officially underway on the Frederick D. Pollard Athletic Center addition on the UND campus. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held today to kick-off the $28 to $29 million dollar build.
The addition will feature new locker rooms for football…softball…cross country/track & field…as well as a state of the art weight room and sports medicine.
UND President Andrew Armacost says the new facility will be “amazing” for student athletes and the community. “Our student athletes deserve it. We heard stories that people would rather change in their cars than the facilities we were able to offer them. That’s not what a world class university with a world class athletic program should do.”
UND Athletic Director Bill Chaves says most people only see student athletes on game day but this is where the magic happens and the addition is 100% philanthropic. “This addition will give our coaches an amazing opportunity to recruit and retain the best student athletes for the next half century. It’s simply a game changer.”
The addition will be built to the west of the existing practice facility which was completed in 2015.
