The return of winter weather made roads slick…reduced visibility in open areas…and caused a handful of schools to delay or cancel classes for the day. After delaying the start of school two hours classes were called off for students in East Grand Forks.
The snow bands that are still moving through the area will diminish during the morning and there will be a slow diminishing trend in the wind this afternoon.
The winter mix left roads ice and snow covered. There were reports of several vehicles hitting the ditch.
A top wind gust of 60 mph was clocked at the Grand Forks Airport shortly before 1:00 a.m. Officially the NWS office in Grand Forks measured 1.9 inches of snow as on 7:00 a.m.
