Fargo police officers to begin using body cameras

By Pat Sweeney May 4, 2021 | 5:01 PM

Police officers in Fargo will soon be using body cameras.

Police Chief Dave Zibloski says the cameras should be ready in August.

The devices come equipped with triggers that are activated when an officer draws a pistol or Taser, removes a rifle from a vehicle, or when the vehicle lights are turned on.

The $2.8-million purchase will be paid for with federal funds from coronavirus relief aid.

The software package also comes with new Tasers.

Training for officers will begin in early July.
