A large stretch of 32nd Avenue South in Grand Forks is slated to get a new layer of asphalt later this year.
The city council last night (Monday) gave preliminary approval to a bid by Knife River Materials out of Bemidji (MN) for the work at a cost of nearly $1.9 million dollars.
City Engineer Al Grasser says the low bid is still 64% higher than state engineer estimates – but it’s a much needed project.
The North Dakota DOT scrapped plans to include the rehab of the concrete portion of the road back in May when bids came in 173% over estimates. The goal is to rehab that stretch during 2024 construction season. The asphalt bid still needs the O-K of the state.
